Who I Am
My name is Chloe, and I’m a current first year undergraduate at the University of Pennsylvania in the College of Arts and Sciences, exploring biology and entrepreneurship. I grew up in New York City and noticed early on how little real information many young people had about sun safety and long-term skin health. Today, Protect That Glow is growing into a broader youth health project that inspires new habits around skin, teeth, and daily wellness.
How Protect That Glow Started
I started Protect That Glow in high school in NYC to make sun safety feel understandable and relevant for youth. I was very involved with eye care and the community service surrounding that, and wanted to expand to skin and sun safety. In the summer of 2024, I launched Protect That Glow, which included a blog, a page to shop sunscreen and other essentials, a page to access educational resources, and it was funded by commission from shopping through our page. What began as a small project has grown into a broader vision: using social media and community support to protect youth health, from skin to smile to everyday wellness.
What Protect That Glow Does Right Now
At the moment, Protect That Glow is a student-led initiative.
Right now, PTG:
Posts educational TikTok content about sun safety and youth health
Shares resources in a way that feels honest and non-intimidating for students/adolescents
Has given a presentation to a small group of students about sun safety
Has secured donations from several companies and will be continuing to distribute products to youth and homeless shelters in the coming months
The Vision
The long-term vision is to inspire a generation of new habits: wearing sunscreen consistently, taking oral health seriously, and seeing health as something youth can actively protect, not just something decided for them. Protect That Glow aims to grow into Glow Kits, workshops, and eventually student-led chapters that serve underserved communities.
